Crayke Dale, Nr Langtoft (YW.1)

A typical Wolds landscape, and one I’d been driving past for years thinking there’s a picture there somewhere. Then one day it hit me.

Out of Sledmere (YW.2)

This is a few a just out of Sledmere, a few miles from my studio. Sledmere is a Wolds Estate Village and home to Sir Tatton Sykes of Sledmere House, a Stately home which is well worth a visit.

Millington Pastures (YW.3)

Millington Pastures and Millington Springs which formerly supported large beds of watercress holds a stock of highland cattle, it is also renowned for its beautiful scenery, for bike riding and for walking. Nearby Millington Woods is one of the few remaining wooded dales in the Wolds.
The Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail, a long distance footpath passes through the parish, to the east of the village of Millington.

Near Huggate (YW.4)

Huggate is the highest village on the Yorkshire Wolds (550 ft), and this is a view looking down Horse Dale, which is part of the Wolds Way National Trail.

Near Fridaythorpe (YW.5)

A typical ‘High Wolds’ view, this time North of Fridaythorpe, which I believe is the second highest village on the Yorkshire Wolds.

Towards Kirby Grindalythe (YW.6)

This is a view looking down the wheat fields towards Kirby Grindalythe, about 8 miles East of Malton

Towards Millington (YW.7)

This is a view from the top of the Wolds across the dry valleys  towards Millington.

Near Thixendale (YW.10)

This is a  winter view of the Wolds near Thixendale, a secluded valley in the heart of the High Wolds. The name reputedly comes from the fact the village is the confluence of Sixteen valleys (Thxen).

Leaving Thixendale (YW.11)

Most of the roads leading out of Thixendale cross the steep valley sides,
This is a view of the Road to York.

Woldsman (YW.12)

A view of the High Wolds near Thixendale, this was created and named after a Long distance walk through the Yorkshire Wolds.

Deepdale (YW.14)

Deepdale as its’ name implies, is a most impressive dry valley, so typical of the Wolds.

Flixton Brow (YW.13)

Whilst walking the Wolds Way, we camped at a site near Flixton, near Hunmanby and I was taken with this particular view.

Wetwang (YW.15)

The curiously named Wetwang always raises a snigger, can’t think why.
This is a view from the Green Lane, which our dog will testify is a great walk.

Beverley Beck (YO.1)

Looking down Beverley Beck towards the Minster, it’s easy to forget that this view is from the flyover on the by-pass.

M62, Goole (YO.2)

I’ve been driving across the M62 Ouse bridge for many years when heading South, At 1.6km long and 30 metres above the surrounding countryside This bridge is an iconic structure. The last few years has seen an increase in the amount of polythene used to cover to cover the crops
